This is Science:U must Read

Does the word ‘men’ in ‘menopause’ have anything to do with men? ‘Yes’, say health researchers.

Menopause, known to be associated with women, can also strike men, portraying some common symptoms.

Medically termed as ‘Andropause’, the condition can cause men over the age of 65 to experience fatigue and irritation, accompanied by a reduced sex drive. Men can also gain weight during this period.

The symptoms are caused due to the changes taking place in the levels of sex hormones. Gradual fall in the levels of testosterone could cause men to experience menopausal symptoms.

Andropause or male menopause does not affect fertility, like it does for women, where the dip in the levels of estrogen and progesterone affects reproduction. The ovaries also call it a day during this period

Why Desi techies love Obama

Barack Hussein Obama may have created some unease among the Indian IT industry with his anti-outsourcing stance; however, most Indians still seem to be rooting for him. According to a recent poll by consulting and market research firm Tecnova, 82 per cent of the respondents in India expect Obama to win. In fact, most respondents in India feel that Obama is the right representative for political stability, world peace and financial strength.

In fact, Obama's not-so-enthusiastic stance on outsourcing has not deterred a group of techies in Bangalore from drumming up support for him in today’s US elections.

The Barack Obama Bangalore Fan Club has not only been calling up, SMSing and emailing friends and relatives in the US to vote for him, it has also raised Rs 200,000 (about $4,100) from fellow Bangaloreans as contribution to his election fund!

Wondering what made the Club members back Obama and campaign on his behalf though the two are over 9,000 km apart?

Dostana: Movie Review

After long brain storming discussions upon the legalisation of gay marriages and the success of gay parades all over the world, it seems that the ‘awe’ of the denizens is gradually decreasing to ‘oh really!’ And is expected to reduce to just a ‘Hmm’ in future. So here’s what to talk for; a mainstream gay-themed film ‘Dostana’

Celebrating Section 377 of the IPC that criminalises gay marriages India, ‘Dostana’ brings out a light, comic, playful mood before the audience through the movie. The movie has a subtle humour. It neither criticizes the gay world, nor tries to convince the audience about it. It just celebrates the gay status as it is in the present scenario, rather in a good humour.

The film primarily talks about two hot dudes Sam (Abhishek) and Kunal (John) who pretend to be a gay couple to acquire a house on rent which they had sought after much distress. They happen to share the apartment with Neha (Priyanka Chopra), who is the niece of the tenant. Eventually, they both fall in love with her but at the same time; struggle a lot to maintain their gay status. The climax comes when a third man, Abhimanyu Singh (Bobby Deol) creeps into her life. What happens after that is for the audience to discover
The comic timing of the movie is perfect and it has an air of freshness to it. It does not stink of the copy pasted contexts from popular English movies and old Hindi cinema. The humour is not renovated but newly invented and you may call out ‘eureka’ after watching it.

Priyanka looks hot and happening on screen and John is unconditionally sizzling. Abhishek drives your nuts out with his fabulous acting. Abhi and John share an unbeatable chemistry and you may pop out of your seats in some scenes. So better carry your seatbelts with you...

As a whole, the movie is a full-time entertainment package which you can watch for a break out of your stressed out routine lifestyle, or to feed some spice to your fun-craving spirit.

YuvRaj Film Review

Drona and Love Story 2050 have competition in vying for the position of the most disappointing films of 2008. Yuvvraaj is a potential contender. It's not just a bad film but a boring film. And a boring film can be much more taxing than a bad one.

It no more surprises that Ghai could make such a shoddy film, especially after he has reinstated our despair through duds like Yaadien and Kisna. In fact he washes away the diminutive hope that one might have had after Black and White.

The script by antique writers Sachin Bhowmick and Kamlesh Pandey has a dated feel and lacks any sort of innovation in storytelling or intelligence in screenplay structure. Subhash Ghai's worn-out direction only makes the proceedings worse and wearisome. The scenes are jumbled with continuity lapses and the dialogues range from clichéd to preposterous. Only Salman Khan can pass off with such ludicrous lines like, "Abhi toh sirf well-done kiya hai, abhi dun-dun karna baaki hai" or "Tumne bharosa kiya, now trust me". Whatever that is supposed to mean!

Bond ,James Bond

The latest James Bond thriller dominated the box office in much of the world during the weekend, boosted by a record opening in North America, distributor Columbia Pictures said on Sunday.

"Quantum of Solace" sold $70.4 million worth of tickets in its first three days of release across the United States and Canada. Industry pundits had forecast an opening in the $60 million range.

The record for a Bond opening in North America was held by "Die Another Day," which earned $47.1 million during its first weekend in November 2002. That film was the last one starring Pierce Brosnan.

"Quantum of Solace" and its 2006 predecessor "Casino Royale," which opened to $40.8 million, starred Daniel Craig. The laconic English actor has invested the famed agent with a darker, more complicated personality.

The new film also earned $56.1 million in 73 countries during the weekend. Having begun its international run two weeks ago, the foreign total now stands at $251.6 million. With a worldwide haul of $322 million, the film is fast approaching the $594 million tally of "Casino Royale."

BOND RULES BRITAIN, FRANCE

Britain was the top foreign market with sales to date of $64.1 million, while Germany and France have each kicked in about $26 million. "Quantum" has already earned more in France than "Casino Royale" did during its entire run there, Columbia said.

Google Inc added a voice and video chat feature to its Gmail email service on Tuesday, launching a free Web-based service that competes with the likes of eBay's Skype.

Gmail and Google App subscribers can now choose to speak with friends on a video screen and simultaneously instant message them in a Google Chat box.

The video screen can be popped out of the chat box and moved around a user's computer screen. Users can also change the size of the screen and expand it to full-screen size.

The feature is available for both PC and Apple computer users.

A webcam and small web browser plug-in are required to use the video chat. Users who do not have a webcam will still be able to chat with friends by voice.
